That's probably inevitable when you design for least draft. This boat draws 3'3" board up. The new Fontaine 36'er being built has a board up draft of 2'8". I'm not sure if the rudder has some design provisions.
I've heard you can design a rudder stock strong enough to withstand most anything, but I don't buy that. No matter how big and beefy the rudder stock, it's still too small an area to focus the type of leverage a grounding rudder would be capable of on the stock and hull.
I thought I saw some light damage to the bottom of the rudder before it was removed, but I can't say. I'm curious and will try to find out.
Groundings around boat yards are often hush hush, sort of a built service to the paying customer?
