We motorsailed a lot.
In Response To: I rarely motorsail ()

Of course, our boat was designed to use the engine quite a bit. We love to take the 'magic' when it works. There's nothing better but bad seas for 10 hours when you can punch into it under power for 3.5 and be at your destination is a lot better. The only time it makes sense to me is if you're on a multi day passage. We've traveled many thousands of miles with most of it coastal cruising. There's almost always a schedule with that kind of cruising and The Admiral and I have a lot of experience being uncomfortable in bad seas. We don't need more of it to prove we can take it.

The thought of a trawler is the same for me. I don't mind motorsailing or even motoring (a good time to fish) but if I could never sail it would be unacceptable.
