Yup, for the kind of coastal sailing we do in places like Maine, a setup like yours is gonna be fine...
One of the adjustments I do have to make, is when I'm sailing on more of a broad reach, with the boom eased only part way... With a high-aspect main and short boom like mine, I sometimes won't have a fair lead from the end of the boom all the way forward without laying against my lifeline stanchions, so I might have to move the turning block up front further aft to get a better lead...
that wouldn't be necessary if I had one of those spruce telephone poles for a boom, like Tom, or Paul D are sporting... (grin)
