There were rumors of a two stroke engine ban in California, but that is not the case... existing engines are fine.

I checked with the state office and there is no such ban on existing engines. However there are some restrictions on new engines... which is what I have... a brand spanking new engine.

Approved direct injection 2 strokes are also OK... but these are generally in the 40HP and above category. So the small engines are the ones that take the big hit and have to be made in 4 stroke.

So even the smallest outboards weigh a bit.
