A few more details...

The big black thing is a large dual stage waterlift muffler. 3" exhaust required by Volvo. It is a 75 hp saildrive, I'm still a little ambivalent at that decision. Behavior is great, backs just fine, but not as vibration free as I had hoped and the salt water is already getting to the aluminum drive leg.

The boat is really pretty ordinary except for all the details. It has a moderate fin keel and a spade rudder. The rig is my own idea, rotating main mast with a pusher vang to control the 960 sq ft square head string sail. Mizzen is small and just for steering and balance (and a wonderful thing at anchor). Both masts are free standing carbon, and with the dinghy, bikes, etc stored below the decks are very clean which I like. It was the extreme attention to every little detail that took all the time and cost a lot. Most of the hardware is custom made for the boat, all designed so that I can sail it easily by myself. After building all the hardware for the boat, I've ended up with a full CNC machine shop at home. The URL listed in the signature is a piece of gear to handle the square head I invented for the boat, people saw it and seemed to want it so now I build them commercially.

I have very few pictures of her sailing, but here are a couple taken by friends. First is sailing into St. Peters on the Bra D'or in Cape Breton Nova Scotia, second is on the Connecticut River trying to keep the spinnaker full for the camera in about 3 knots true. There is a short video at http://youtu.be/N-8x0_lkXGI (also taken with the very wide angle GoPro camera, makes the 24' boom look tiny!). She sails pretty well, I have only 'raced' others on a few occasions but seemed to do just fine against the sloops.
