So I just priced teak wood...

And it turns out just buying a ready made teak bracket is cheaper... due primarily to the size and type of wood available. May yet go this route, and just keep the spare (you can't call it "scrap" at that price) teak around for other projects.

Just noticed Greg's Autopilot "resting" on a teak block... which gives me an idea.

BTW they are getting nearly $20 a board foot for teak, locally. $26 a linear foot for 2 inch thick, but only 8 in wide, rough cut.
