I can understand the appeal of a cold molded wood boat for some, but flexibility in construction, design, or renovation is not one of its advantages. Wood has many limitations that GRP does not. In a tooled production boat, you are limited by the expense of the tooling, but built the same way (over a male mold) as a cold molded wood boat, correctly done modern GRP or CRP construction will be more flexible in design, construction, and modification; as well as being lighter and longer lasting, while costing about the same. But it won't be made of wood, which is a negative for some people.
