It's not that i don't like winter, I don't like the east coast winter. I don't like the east coast summer either come to think of it. One oddity is that there is little or no diurnal temperature variation. The temp graph just slopes from one side to the other: colder over the day, colder still overnight, colder still the next day. Contrast to where I live there is almost always a 25 degree or so diurnal variation. Typical of winter is 55-60 during the day, 30 - 35 at night. Summer is 80 during the day (and 40% humidity), 55 at night. Here in Virginia, winter is 28 during the day, 23 at night; the summer is 80 during the day (and raining), 78 at night (and raining).
The pioneers had nothing like this kind of hardship: I am having to make my own lattes on board because the nearest Starbucks (not protected by the US Navy) is a 12 minute drive. Life is hard! Really HARD!
