I haven't had that many 'Starbucks' coffees, but it's,...ok(maybe I don't know what to order?).
We have a few decent coffee houses on the coast, even a roaster or two, but none of it is exceptional.
The best coffee I can get I have friends/family bring from Brooklyn. I bet your sons know of Sahadis, an importer in Brooklyn. They have fresh imported just roasted beans(I have no idea where it's coming from but coffee is never going to be 'local' in my region). Best of all, it's less $ than the worst coffee I can buy in Maine(imported foods expensive here mostly for the distance). We never miss visiting Sahadis when we're down that way.
Lately I'm finding myself a little hooked to a Nespresso machine I was given as a gift. The refills are expensive but again, family in NYC found a dealer and great prices.
Stuff like a favorite coffee makes living off the beaten path a little more interesting, especially in winter. But nothing compares to making fresh, good coffee, on the water.
