BTW this is what it looked like early last year...

Just before I sanded the bowsprit down to bare wood... and put on about 4 coats of Le Tonk. So what you see here is thin Tonk over some old varnish. The toe rail was sanded to bare wood in spots, but in other areas I left behind the old original varnish... so the rail looks nice here, but about 8 months later the old varnish started peeling and taking the Le Tonk with it.

There are areas I have decided to let go gray... I have pads on either side of the cockpit for instance that one steps on while boarding... seemed like a good thing to let go "rough."

The oak posts in this photo I just have not gotten too yet as they are also holding my mooring lines. Not quite sure how I'm going to do that. Maybe tie to the bow sprit while the varnish dries.
