I just had to replace my vhf radio

for the second time in 18 years. I suppose that's not bad but why can't manufacturs use the same foot prints? Why can't they keep things compatable? My new radio is the same as the last one, a Horizon. I replaced it with the one with the closest match to the last one but, of course, the old ram mic. wouldn't work with it so I had to replace it as well. That meant that I had to replsce the cable to it also. That cost me about 8 hours of work. The new radio was about two inches shorter so the antenna cable was short two inches with no way to make it grow. Now I have a 6 inch pig tail connection making that work. I just don't get it. Does anyone need a first generation Horizon ram mic as a replacement or back up? I have one that needs a good home and you couldn't beat the price...ever. Free stuff is always good.(nl)
