i'm pretty sure I have that all hooked up correctly, as per the Xantrex wiring diagram, but I'll have to double check. I don't see that the 2 banks are "connected together" at the shunt, and I've never had any issue with monitoring the status of the 2 banks independently, I'm definitely getting accurate/separate readings for each...

I was thinking that something like the Duo Charge might be a solution, thanks for the reminder, I'll have to check those out more closely...
