this is a deck drain, NOT a cockpit drain. Good suggestions all--thanks! I am talking about a wire reinforced hose that is frozen, so I am in agreement with Larry that perhaps a heat tape is a bad idea? Anyone know for sure if the heat tape would damage the hose? It is a tempting idea!

I think I will have to go back with a hair dryer and just spend the time to thaw it out. Probably no short cuts to this.
