() was pretty tough as well. My previous boat was oiled while we spent about 4 years cruising around the Caribbean, Bahamas and down island and in that time the teak just went to hell. This boat we keep varnished no matter where we're at. It takes plenty of time and energy but the wood is still in fine shape and she's getting along in age. We figure it's worth it.
