Reading about LeTonkinois, I think too few coats will fail.

It seems like there's no free lunch there. They recommend a minimum of 6 coats. I was reading a few threads on Woodenboat forum about it. Some like ease of application, some have had problems.

Curiously, the directions say moisture isn't much of a problem? I think that's a little optimistic reading your experience.

I'm always interested in these products, but nothing seems to do it all for a lot less labor than plain old varnish, yet.

Not having weather to dry coatings would be very tough to get long life out of anything.
