I gotta say my OLD Seagull Silver Century plus was reliable as sin. What killed me was it was 10/1 mix on gas/oil and sounded like a tin can being towed behind a car at sixty mph when it ran. But it was reliable for me.

- Hmmm... the idle problem started before I started messing with the carb.
- Hopefully that was a high E, not a low E string

- Check your gasket.
- Having somewhat the same trouble-check your fuel pump. May not be it, but worth checking
