No harm no foul, as they say. But I think etiquette calls for actions to be consistent with words.

Good move. I've used the fog horn function on my VHF for 10+ years
I could never do one of those.

I tacked down the middle of New York Harbor in the dense fog...
Foghorns are tough to figure direction in fog as the sound seems to come from...where?

One nice thing about running the ICW in heavy fog, at least the Gulf ICW If the tow boats
