Just needed a little jolt to think out of the usual attachment box. The teak strips on the seats are attached with wood screws that are countersunk on the bottom. If I remove the necessary strips I should be able to drill down from the top and countersink flathead machine screws through the starboard down through the old screw holes. I could add nyloc nuts and flat washers under the rail. It will take longer to remove and attach the seats for refinishing but considering that 2 square feet of teak on the whole boat is all there is, I should be good.
The design is similar on the seat braces, the aft rail is contoured for support. Yes, the wheel cover has been replaced since this was taken.
