If keel stepped, inspect the mast closely where it goes thru the partners.
The boat I ran any years ago was known as the boat with the banana mast. It had a big bow forward. Eventually, the owner had it pulled, and the mast had a kink right at the partners. I suspect it happened in the 1972 Bermuda Race, which was a bit rough. (Before I joined her.)
That mast, with kink, stood up to my abusing it for a season in the Caribbean and another Bermuda Race before the problem was discovered.
