We are into this because we ripped the main half way across the Atlantic, and finished the crossing with the trysail. No problem with strong wind aft
When we tried to sail close hauled with trysail and full jib., or jib alone, the problem surfaced.
We finally got the man repaired this week, and are plan to tune the rig and install the main today

Backstay is as tight as it always was
