Now that Rocna is made in China they are competitive.
In Response To: because ()

A Manson Supreme 35 is currently $350 at Defender, $429 at Hamilton, or $450 at West Marine, while a Rocna 33 at West Marine is $424.

All else equal I would worry if I could trust that the Chinese-made product is consistent enough in the quality of the steel or welding, despite Craig's claims on another board about Chinese-made Rocna anchors being better quality than the NZ-made anchors. For a consumer, judging the quality of a product is often a question of judging the reputation of the maker. In the case of Manson we know who the manufacturer is. I haven't had any communication with them, but mine is holding up well. (I don't trust in what Craig says.)

I own a 35 Manson and 44 "original" Rocna. I think the two products are basically similar in performance. There are some fit differences: For a given weight the Manson has a higher shank and roll bar, which is more likely to interfere with a sprit than similar sized Rocna. (In my case, the max my bow can fit is a 35 Manson or 44 Rocna.)
