Yes, I think initially your right. Like getting a screw started in wood. Dull point, push harder. But how far will it go? Will either of them keep penetrating? I have a problem with the roll bar stopping the penetration!
I had a good friend that sat through the hurricane in Trinidad. His boat survived but he had to hire a diver to retrieve his anchor... CQR's. The diver said they were buried about 5'.
Could the Ronca or Supreme keep burying or would in high wind conditions they simply pull out the ground they're sitting in? We've good reviews by most cruisers that they are indeed solid anchors. I haven't yet seen any of the high wind conditions and what a hurricane has done to the anchor. I've seen how CQR's act. I've seen bent drop forged shafts on the original ones. Bent mind you, not broken or snapped off.
No doubt those pics and info will creep up in years to come. Just hope they're as good in the severe stuff as they appear to be in the normal to almost severe stuff.
