Me thinks that the roll bar is just a gimick! The shank of the anchor acts just like a roll bar, no? If there was no roll bar then it wouldn't be a whole lot different then the CQR, Spade, Delta, Bruce, etc.

I've not seen any "scientific" evidence of the new generation anchors being better than a CQR IMHO. They drop them in different bottoms (look closely at the video Ronca's gave to west marine and you'll see that the pull test is in different bottoms. They test their "Heavier anchor against a lighter one and say they're using the recommnended sizes! Humph! If I drop a 30,000 lb Navy anchor it will stop me in less then 1 mm. Of course I can't carry that one. LOL.

I've seen people have good results and are happy with their Rocna,s and Supremes. I've watched others drag with the "new generation" anchors.

I'm still watching. And maybe (since I love anchors and carry 5 for different conditions and bottoms) I'll pick up one of the current "cool" ones. Who knows....
