friend who cruised caribbean and europe swears by his portabote...

even gave me his old rollup just to get it off the boat. he had a nine or ten footer for him and the admiral. i only rowed it once but was surprised at how well it tracked. and, with a forty foot center cockpit ketch, i'm sure he could have had just about any dinghy he wanted, but he chose the portabote. he used a 4hp 2 stroke yamaha, but rowed most of the time - said it was more trouble setting up and servicing the outboard then rowing, and since the portabote rowed so well it was probably less work too.

p.s. i don't have a portabote.
