Gene,
Go with a PortaBoat! We used ours on the Baja for a long time now. One BIG advantage, try running a deflatable up on shore on most of the Baja on those sharp rocks!
Our To-Hot-To, also a 3.5 HP will plane our 8 foot PB with one of us in it. Not with both of us.
Also, consider that we have been using our PB since 1997, FULL TIME for 4 years in the Baja sun. I don't think any deflatable will or can last that long.
And Oh... by the way, it fits our 27 foot boat just fine
