PB info
In Response To: I rode around in one... ()

Gene,

Below is a photo of ours when we pulled into Guaymas after an overnighter in good weather. It's in the “B” position storage I talked about, (on the side deck, but not lashed down). In this position it covers 2 of our 3 ports on that side. If I move it back further it would allow the forward port to show. But, the aft port on that side is the galley one, so I make sure I keep it forward to keep Jill happy.

The same goes for ports when it's lashed down. To lash it I use a set of truck tie down straps I got from a hardware store. The PB is tight against the cabin side, I have two “D” tie down rings on the side deck about 2 inches from the cabin sides. I lash from the “D” around the PB to the handrail on the cabin top. It makes it very secure and protects the ports that are covered. This protection DID come in handy once as we were in a storm off of Cedros island.

We do have the 8 foot model and I think folded it's about 8' 7” or so???

One thing to make sure of if you decide to go the used PB route. Make SURE you get the newer seats and transom! There is a couple of close up seat photos in our gear reports in the “Position Reports” area of our web site. I don't have photos of the new transom as we don't have a new PB, YET.

Another note, when new, they are hard to set up! After a few set-ups and some time in the open they get much easier to work with.
