I'm thinking the biggest roll up with

an air floor that you can stow without having to do away with the wife. Bigger is always better up to a point. You get to decide where that point is. I know of a couple of people who have air floors and they seem to work as long as you keep the floor pumped up as hard as you can. The down side of using any inflatable other then a hard bottom is sand. It's not much of as issue in Calif. but if you go south you will need to be diligent about keeping it out of the boat. That goes with any inflatable floor as well as any boat with a floor and inflatable keel. The sand get trapped in between the floor, keel and deck and will wear out the fabric over time. It's not a big deal to clean it out but you will need to do it as needed. Any boat that you need to keep on deck is problematic on a 27 foot boat. A Portabote seems like a good idea until a sea comes aboard an takes out a couple of life line stanchions. IMHO, I think it needs to stowed below decks. Below decks or tied down on the foredeck. The problem with that is that there isn't much in the way of a foredeck on a 27 foot boat. That brings you back to some kind of a roll up inflatable. I used an Avon inflatable with aluminum floor sections for years and liked it a lot. The down side was stowing the floor boards and getting them into the boat on deck. I ended up towing it quite often. I have said it here before that you can't be in love with your dinghy if you tow it. Someday it's going to be gone.
