I have a unique vantage point
Why do they do that? Seriously
A lot of those powerboats have all electric galleys.

I can say the same thing about below decks diesel gensets...
yeah, and wind generators
The worst wind generators are positively evil. But the best are silent, as near as I can hear.
For some reason my ear is more tolerant of diesel gensets...
The noise level is highly load-dependent
So is your Yamaha so quiet you run it in the cockpit footwell? Or place in on the furthest extremity of the boat?
Wouldn't run in the cockpit because of exhaust gasses, no matter how quiet
Hear, hear! (literally

Wow, What's your secret
Not really a secret ...
I agree with you except
I'm with you, any internal combustion engine running in an anchorage is a nuisance.
Of course you are right - generators only make the noise people let them make...
Agree 100%. That goes for any engine or incessant noise -- not just the small generators
QUIET!!!
sded, did we meet at Pelican a couple summers ago?
Yes; same boat
An Idea
I have seen folks hang the generator ...
