... from a halyard a foot or two off the deck, then use a bungie or line to keep it from swinging. I've not ever tried it, they claim it cuts down on noise & vibration.
A suggestion ... I have the 2000. You will hear worthy pros & cons for both the Honda 2000 and the 1000. I wish now I had bought the 1000 ... it is significantly lighter and smaller (volume), like 40% less, therefore easier to handle and stow, stowage space being critical on a sailboat. The price difference is not much, $50 ?, one reason why I opted for the 2000. Ours fits nicely in the cockpit sail locker, but the smaller 1000 would be a better match. I have a system where I've learned how much gas to put in for how long I want it to run, we run it out of gas every time it is used, so leaking gas & fumes not an issue in the bilge.
I only run the Honda to charge batteries and we have a smallish charger at 40 Amps, so the 1000 would be more than enough. If you are going to heat water (electric water heater), use a strong vacuum, or a number of appliances or heavy tools ... of a bunch of these at once, the 2000 would be a better choice. But, keep in mind, when the Honda gets a load on, it is significantly louder. Easily 2 to 3 X as loud.
Good luck ...
cheers, John
