After the latest battle with ethanol/carb issues I am seriously looking into switching to either an electric (Torqeedo) or propane (Lehr) outboard. Todd D's and other's posts have been very helpful with background on the electric version. I have 300 Watts worth of solar panels so electric is probably an option even when living aboard for extended periods. It sounds like typical (modest) usage of the dink might consume 10-15 AH per day which could be easily recharged from the mother ship battery.
Propane also is an intriguing option, with a 20# tank holding the equivalent energy of about 5 gals of gas. Lehr is coming out with a larger version (9.9 HP) early next year. They told me they are working on a European version, or at least ensuring that it can be tweaked to run on Camping Gaz (butane). If anyone has any experience with the Lehr I'd be interested to hear about it.
