There are many situations when it would be unfeasible to have to disassemble and lug around the outboard, or even some part of it, for fear of theft. Could you not lock the lower unit in place using the regular screw tabs (same way you lock a regular outboard), and then make a lockbox mounted to the transom, or perhaps as a rowing seat, that you could lock the other components into?
I haven't seen one in person yet but there must be some way to lock it up in the dink securely.
