I understand what you are saying. I am trying to look at all of my options for the replacement of ALL 9 of the plates.

I priced out replacing them with manganese bronze, but WOW $$$$$. Now I am looking at SS. As with ALL things for cruising sail boats, it's a lot of tradeoffs.

Below is a photo of how they looked not long before I removed them.

What ever I use to replace them must keep with the same type of appearance. I don't think I like the idea of big hex heads sticking out there. I tried to find a source for Dome Head Stainless Steel Bolts, but have not found one yet. Do you know of one where I can get the few I need?

Was also looking at hammer head bolts and but did not find them either.

In the long run, it may be easier to just make copies and put them on a 7 to 10 year replacement list. Considering they are over 35 years old now. At my age, I don't need a 20+ year replacement part...
