I rarely use the SSB to transmit except on passage. If there's action going on that I can eliminate during non use, I'm all for it.

I'm really leaning to the KISS principal. I'm spending so much time getting the boat ready to head overseas it's almost comical. I talk to the guys in the boatyard, everybody's got their lists. Boats have gotten so complicated, and we seem to need the latest and greatest of this and that. It was a pleasure today to start ripping out the holding tank and Lavac to install a composting head. If a simple satellite communicator comes along, perhaps an advancement of Delorme's In Touch, maybe I'll bag getting a new SSB and pastor modem.
