Agreed, Jon. Another option if you only have one pole on board is to attach a snatch block to your boom, rig the boom outboard with a preventer (main down, of course) and pole out the second jib to your boom. Runs the risk of dipping your boom in a wave on a roll, of course. We have run downwind this way, but not in really boisterous conditions.
