I disagree, Todd. I think the design of a rudder like this takes a little science, and the building takes a high degree of workmanship as well to build correctly. You can't overbuild it, the design won't allow, it's such a key part of a sailboat, and there is little room for error. I'd say it has to be near 100% correctly done or it will be prone to failure.
Today, it's become such a science, some places only manufacture things like rudders.
If they had called the folks that built this composite rudder, they'd still be sailing I bet.
