Hi everyone, I have had huge issues trying to get here, server errors have pretty muched locked me out while at work.
We are looking at the water level issues and trying to come up with a plan. It looks likely that our Islander will be stuck in the mud in our lift well, it is doubtful we will float anyplace in our club except our slip. I am looking at an Irwin 34 with a keel/centerboard configuration, it draws only 4' with the board up, 8' with the board down. It appears that the centerboard has similar maintenance issues to the lifting mechanism that our old Catalina 25 had, it does have a substantial keel though. I am really unfamiliar with the sailing performance of a keel centerboard, I'm really wondering how the keel itself would function? I don't really want to deal with an 8' draft, although I suppose the centerboard would need to be deployed at some time? Is it an all or nothing deal or can it be partially dropped into place.
I feel like I'm taking a knife to a gunfight here when going to visit the broker, I don't even know if this is a boat I really need to be looking at. The draft is right, boat is ingreat shape, but I don't know crap about the setup.
Thoughts, Comments??
