Paper charts

I love paper charts. I have the Raytheon stuff and a Garmin back up in the cockpit but I still have my paper charts dating back to the early 80's when I began cruising. Twice a year I sit down with all the CG Local Notice to Mariners chart updates, and pen and ink all the changes to each of my charts. Pure unadulterated pleasure on a cold winter day. Looking at all the harbors we call at. When underway we keep the appropriate paper chart on the chart table and do as you do with the dividers. I only turn on the Raytheon gear, which is mounted at the chart table, when visibility is reduced. Otherwise I pilot using my charts. Very comforting.
