Basically we're paperless, except for the paper charts we carry. I have the current chart often laid out on the table when off shore and plot our position with sticky arrows as we move. But even though our primary mode of navigating is paperless we carry a full set of charts 99% of the time. There are exceptions when for example we change plans and head off in a different direction. We may not have the exact chart large scale chart but we do the best we can. Sapzurro Colombia was the one most recent exception I can remember.
That said, Paper charts, cruising guides that are in book form - not electronic form are part of our load. I expect it will always be so for us as in cruising terms we are quite conservative.
