We are planning another bahamas trip and I want to buy a backup chart plotter.

Can I use an ipad for this. Seems like it would be very useful in other areas as well.

After using the garmin plotter before they started using the Explorer charts, I don't want to go back to the old data.

Does anyone know if this is possible?
