The Crooked/Acklins district is one of my favorite spots in all of the Bahamas...

...but your draft will present some real problems down there, and keep you from exploring much of the Bight of Acklins. Anything over 5' is really pushing it in there, lots of the most interesting spots will be off limits to you...

It's a very remote area, not too many boats get down there... One of the poorest regions of the islands, much of it has become somewhat of a ghost town... The pic is from the long-abandoned settlement of Pompey Bay...

Another wonderful, out of the way and little-visited spot is Samana Cay... However, getting into the Columbus Anchorage features one of the trickiest reef passages anywhere in the Bahamas, with your draft you'd only want to attempt it in absolutely perfect conditions...

Flamingo Bay, on the north side of Rum Cay, is one of the most beautiful spots you'll find anywhere... I know DanY rates it as their favorite, and I would not disagree, a magnificent spot you'll have a good chance of having entirely to yourself...

Whenever I need a bit of 'civilization' down there, or need to get to someplace with satellite TV to watch an early season F1 race, I'll head for Clarence Town on Long Island... I've always liked that place, the Flying Fish Marina is nice if you crave a bit of dockside life, and the roads around Clarence Town are nice for bicycling... Always a bit of a surge in Clarence Town harbor, but it's still one of my favorites...
