file clean, sand smooth and polish.

Those fiberglass cutoff wheels work well on steel too.

Dan, were you using ceramic or fiberglass cutoff wheels?
Fiberglass and carefully.
I'm old tech and would try to use a drill and metal hack saw blade.
Use a router, but make a jig so it CAN NOT get out of control
