A few Star Trek episodes even emphasized the same thing... not to mention the whole premise of "Terminator" and "skynet."

Heck, I don't even want any of the newer smartphones, with a non-removable battery. (dangerous trend I tell ya... Just wait until Siri figures out you CAN'T turn her off... )

There should always be a redundant "dumb" mode to fall back on, with these "smart" systems. A way to simply "pull the plug" and go to manual control... especially with the harsh marine environment where everything fails at one time or another.
