"local guy can usually be quite competitive if given the chance" That's your Government

at work! It seems like it's on a mission to force us to buy foreign products at every turn. I sit down here in San Diego watching wind driven pollution blow back over the boarder from all the manufacturing driven out of the US by environmental regulations. We have no way to control the manufacturing generated pollution in Mexico because we were stupid enough to regulate it out of the country just over the boarder. Now we get to see the Tijauna River after a rain flood so much crap and industrial waste into the ocean that we have to close our beaches because the current brings it north. Gee, it just seems to me that if we had all that manufacturing just 1/2 a mile to the North that instead of being forced to "live with the pollution" we could be the ones regulating the manufacturing of it and the pollution in the US would undoubtedly be significantly less. On top of that we would have thousands of jobs here in the US. I flew into Tijauna the other day on the way back from Costa Rica and my friends wife looked out the window and said "what are all of those buildings"? I said "jobs that should be in the US". I'm all for environmental safety laws but not when counter productive and drive our economy towards third world status. I buy American manufactured goods when ever I can but it's hard to find them at competitive prices. Foreign cheep labor is one reason, to be sure, but the anti business environment in this country is just nuts and a prime driver of most of this countries problems. IMHO Thanks for the rant...
