Film still exists, and still offers higher image resolution in most cases than anything available in a digital format.

And yes, frankly I find my digital SLR much harder to use than my old film SLR... there are simply more options available than the settings that were available on the film camera. That many more choices means that much more room for error. On the other hand, the automatic functions of today's digital cameras can offer so much more to the casual photographer.
