Must have been a good piece, Dan, to get the nomination.

Smart phone photography, a handy pictorial.
That was good
Really good points
Thanks, Charlie, I haven't used the HDR setting yet.
Here's my favorite of his series.
I miss film.
Funny you should mention that...
The greatest enemy of new technolgy is the expert in the old
Technology socially divides large numbers of us.
Shooting on film did mean that you spent more time composing a shot..
Somewhere I read ...
Typical 'old fart-ism'. I'd wager todays marksmen would outshoot yesterdays,...
Monkeys and typewriters
SAILING by Onne Van Der Wal, is a $100.00 book created from 1 and 1/2 million images
Which means that digital has less value. Like Chinese tube socks.
Well let's get the old camera's back out if they were so good.
The cameras were good!
Sadly, no on the film. I have two 35 MM Slr's, a Canon and a Nikon (with motor drive), A Rolliflex
I agree totally..
I sense some 'tongue in cheek' in that statement
Not at all Dan
I still shoot about the same.
Film aside, do you see your dig SLR easier to use than your film SLR?
Harder.
My Elan 7e had eye-controlled focus.
Guys, the arguements are rather moot...
It is moot, today. Post processing digital; that's my next educational step.
Back in the days of film, I used to shoot a lot of black and white
Same here... had a darkroom setup that went into the 2nd bathroom...
I have boxes of negatives!
Dodging and burning with fingers worked a lot better than the digital tools.
and more satisfying.
I could argue that point re photography
"The only myth is that, the old methods in any era, took more skill..."
Another one from Walter Iooss...
What digital equipment are you using these days, Jon?
I've used all these
Typical builders own home Smoke detector installation.
I now use a Nikon D700 for more 'serious' stuff...
nice shot... reminds me... how many here have good shots of dolphins at play...
Your son's got talent
He's good, Gene. my P&S's had some lag.
Thanks guys... he is working on his last semester...
Your son has a nice body of work on his website.
He's been at it for about 5 years...
I forgot all about the restrictions of reversal film
When you're rolling 35 or 70mm film with a whole crew
When I first started building, we used handsaws often, and pounded most nails with a hammer.
I'm not too really sure about that Tom. When I see some of the ticky-tacky CRAP being thrown
Ticky tack work is nothing new.
LOL- OK. But you must agree, with nailguns, they can do it LOTS faster
Too true! A craftsman can really produce with nail guns.
Heh. When I did major remodel on my house I used zero nails, everything is screws, even the siding.
Building inspectors don't like screws..
I was once almost fired for doing good work.
