I was filming a tv 'movie of the week' (almost 60 people on the set) and the 'dailies' (film shot yesterday) came back looking poorly for 2 days. The producer and director were really upset with me and I was almost fired. I defended myself strongly as I knew I did a good job but they were looking for someone to replace me. Turns out that the video transfer had problems (probably transferred by a guy smoking dope at 3AM) and the original was fine.
After the movie was aired I was nominated for an Emmy for the photography. It was a bizarre experience being almost fired for screwing up and then attending a major black tie award ceremony with me as a possible Emmy.
Didn't get the Emmy. The film that got the Emmy was about a kid dying of AIDS. That's ok, it's all political anyway.
You're right, no slack.
