It's simple. They stick them on with some glue and a bunch of bolts. Add to that the fact that they are under built around the area that they put the glue and bolts and you have keels that fall off. It's not rocket science. I'm just old fashioned I guess. When I leave port I want a reasonable chance to arrive at my destination. I'm not asking for a guarantee that everything will work fine and the weather will be good and the boat will be able to keep the water on the outside. I'm only asking for a reasonable chance and these boats aren't making the grade. At least with a full keel you have to split the boat in half for the keel to fall off. Has anyone ever heard of a full keel boat with an encapsulated lead keel falling out of the bottom?
