Good question. I can see structural fin keel damage in a grounding, but a full loss, in the water?

If that were the case, I would think this production boat would have lost many keels during groundings that must have occurred to a 15 year run which includes quite a few boats.

When a deep keel hits a ledge, the damage is often severe, but I don't think they often come right off. What possible force could be applied in the water, to surpass a grounding?
