Larry, what happens when you put a didgital voltmeter across
In Response To: My test of direct voltage ()

the positive and negative wires at the motor and attempt to run the pilot? What's the reading? It helps if you have a voltmeter which will read the maximum voltage drop. You should be able to get the specifications from the manufacture or manual for a fully loaded motor. I think that I read that you said the motor will run in either direction but you didn't say if it was tested under load. After you checked the voltage drop at the motor under load then I would get an amp meter and shunt. Put the shunt in the positive leg to the motor and read the amp draw under load. It shouldn't be more then a couple of amps. If it spikes to 10 or so prior to getting the error message or it drops the voltage significantly then it could tell you if it's the motor. The other thing you could do is take the motor to a motor rebuild shop and ask them to use a "Megger" on it. That will tell you if the insulation on the windings are breaking down under load.
