I hate butt connections so much that
In Response To: These were butt connections ()

I have resorted to using epoxy to place a small block of wood in order to lay down a terminal board. I cut a piece of wood about an inch larger then the terminal board and 45 degree cut the four sides. I stick that puppy down and never look back. I mean, I really hate butt connections! Every time you replace a device or trouble a shoot a problem the wires keep getting shorter and shorter. You can't see inside the connector so you can't see if the wires are going south and the wires just hang in space waiting it get caught on something. At least with a ring connector you can see the wire sticking out of the end of the crimp, or at least you should if it's crimped right, and lay a layer of insulating grease over the connectors. That's another issue as well, you can't get insulating grease down into the butt connector in order to protect the wires from the environment. Finely, the terminal board holds everything nice and in place and it's all good. But that's just MHO. I buy the 10 position terminal boards and cut them with a hack saw so you get 2 position boards. You loose 4 positions because you need to remove one connection point on either end in order to accommodate the screws to hold it down but you end up with three, 2 position boards out of a 10 position board. You can see that I have this down to a total science. I really hate butt connectors!
